July 4th

We had a great 4th of July this year.  It marked one month since we've been here, so we are not such Alaska newbies.  We were very glad that Granny got to celebrate with us.  It was a little strange needing coats during our block party rather than trying not to melt, but not such a bad change!  The whole neighborhood got together for a big block party.

They rented a bounce house for the kids.  Reagan was a little hesitant at first, but after she watched the other kids for  a while and daddy got in with her for a few minutes, she was a wild woman!

One of our neighbors brought some sparklers for the kids.  Reagan thought that was really cool.  We will definitely be bringing some next year because they were so much fun-and those are the only fireworks you get in Alaska on Independence day!  However, we are all looking forwards to the fireworks to make the Winter Solstice and New Year's Day, we can have those in the middle of the afternoon, no need to stay up late!!

Justin officially takes over command of his flight on Monday.  He has been very grateful to have his predecessor here to show him the ropes and introduce him to the people he needed to meet.  They have become very good friends over the past couple of months, but I know J is ready to get out on his own.
